Mitsuaki Harada, Deputy Managing Director & Managing Director IEI Middle East
Mitsuaki Harada serves as Deputy Managing Director of IEI and Managing Director of IEI Middle East, and is a member of the Board of Directors, seconded from ITOCHU Corporation.
He has over 20 years of experience in the infrastructure sector, covering oil and gas, waste management, water, power, and urban transportation. Prior to his current role, he led infrastructure business across the EMEA, CIS, and Central Asia regions as General Manager of the Section at ITOCHU Corporation’s headquarters. He joined ITOCHU in 2008, following earlier experience at the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Japan’s policy-based financial institution, where he was engaged in international finance and sovereign debt restructuring negotiations, including Paris Club processes.
Mr. Harada has held international assignments in Tokyo, Paris, London, Belgrade, and Algiers. From 2016 to 2024, he served as Managing Director of Beo Čista Energija, where he led the successful end-to-end development and delivery of the Belgrade Integrated Waste Management PPP Project in close cooperation with the government and international financial institutions. He also holds several board positions in portfolio investment companies.
He holds a degree from Hitotsubashi University and attended the MBA program at ESSEC Business School. He is fluent in English and French.
